Wat Phrathat Doi Saket Temple, Chiang Mai, Thailand

Wat Phrathat Doi Saket is another beautiful Buddhist temple that is easy to see while you are traveling on an adventure around Chiang Mai, Thailand. Even though the temple appears to be new the original structures were built in 1112. It is a beautiful place to photograph and it is a lot quieter than many of the busier temples in the area. This image shows the main chedi where there are relics of the Buddha and a Lanna style golden umbrella.

I made this image with my Canon EOS 6D 20.2 MP DSLR Camera with a Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM Lens handheld, set at 100 ISO, 24mm, f/9.0, 1/640 sec.

To accomplish this he got rid of most of his possessions, packed up what little he saw as necessities and headed out. His goal is to spend ten years discovering new places, meeting new people and taking the time to learn about them, their values and their place on this tiny planet. He embraces the philosophy that says a person is the sum of their experiences and rejects the fraud of modern consumerism that makes people into slaves of their consumption. He doesn't intend to be modern day ascetic, just more mindful of his place in the world and to make decisions according to that new standard.
