Vonda and the Serpent
Early one morning as Vonda and I were driving down the little dirt road that went to Coral Gardens near Xcalak we came upon a Boa Constrictor lazing in the middle of the road. We had to stop; it wasn’t moving and being of the live and let live persuasion we couldn’t run over it. Vonda decided it would make a great picture so she got out to take a closer look. She stood directly in front and snapped a photo. The snake didn’t move. She walked around behind it and took another. Still, it just laid there. Fearing it was injured she decided to be Steve Irwin and grab its tail to move it out of the road.It was not injured. The snake immediately turned on Vonda and actually hissed. She jumped, I jumped, the snake jumped. Where was the video camera when we needed it?

In 2011 Jonathan Look decided change his life and pursue adventures instead of comfort and possessions. His goal is to travel the world; one country at a time, one year at a time. To accomplish this he packed up what little he saw as necessities and headed out. His goal is to spend ten years discovering new places, meeting new people and taking the time to learn about them, their values and their place on this tiny planet.
He embraces the philosophy that says a person is the sum of their experiences and rejects the fraud of modern consumerism that makes people into slaves of their consumption. He doesn't intend to be modern day ascetic, just more mindful of his place in the world and to make decisions according to that new standard.
